Aura Speedman™

A Four Station Solid PhasE Extraction Disc MANifold

Aura's SPEEDMAN™ permits the individual or simultaneous extraction of four liquid samples onto 47mm solid phase extraction discs with, GREATER CONVENIENCE, SPEED, SAFETY, and at LOWER COST. It incorporates Aura's patented all teflon, unbreakable disc holders.

Aspiration of sample through syphon tubes obviates the need to place bottles in upended fashion. Upended bottle placement is intrinsically unsafe, can cause spilling, falling, and breaking of sample bottles with concomitant loss of sample.

SPEEDMAN™, which has a sturdy and stable base, does not have breakable filter bells, saving large replacement costs and increasing safety. The solid phase extraction discs are securely clamped in place with a threaded nut. No protruding spring actuated aluminum clamps are used.

As shown by University research*, the syphon technique increases transfer speed because the particulates do not reach the filter disc until the syphon tube is lowered to the bottom of the sample bottle. The level of the syphon tube in the sample bottle can be readily adjusted with the O-ring accessories.

Molded lip on filter holder conveniently guides disc placement to exact center, while leaving a larger surface area available for the extraction.

SPEEDMAN™ can be used for EPA methods 506, 515.2, 525.1, 549.1, 550.1, 553 and 1664.

Glass filtrate receivers can hold 22mm vials to receive organic extracts of the SPE discs. These vials are tcompletely visible at all times. We have a pressure equalization port for simplified disc preparation. All components are interchangeable and modular from one station to another.

Versatility is enhanced by a unique feature of this apparatus which allows drying the discs with inert gas connected through the syphon tube and by the availability of the Syringe Accessory Kit (SAK) which allows the use of syringe filters and solid phase extraction tubes having male luer fittings.

* The report by Professor Larry Taylor and Dr. Dale C. Messer, Virginia Polytechnic Institute, showing a 12.3 fold increase in speed with SPEEDMAN™ is available on request. Reports by Dr. Nancy Szabo and Professor H. Anson Moye, University of Florida, indicating the superiority of SPEEDMAN™ in many applications are also available.
